  COMPUTER -Computer and parts- A computer is a  machine  that manipulates  data  according to a set of instructions called a  computer program . The program has an executable form that the computer can use directly to execute the instructions. The same program in its human-readable source code form, enables a programmer to study and develop a sequence of steps known as an  algorithm . Because the instructions can be carried out in different types of computers, a single set of source instructions converts to machine instructions according to the  CPU  type. [ citation needed ] The execution  process  carries out the instructions in a computer program. Instructions express the computations performed by the computer. They trigger sequences of simple actions on the executing machine. Those actions produce effects according to the  semantics  of the instructions. Introduction of Computing   A  computer  is a  machine  that can be programmed to  carry out  sequences of  arithmetic  or  logical operations  ( computation ) automatically. Modern  digital electronic  computers can perform generic sets of operations known as  programs . These programs enable computers to perform a wide range of tasks. A  computer system  is a nominally complete computer that includes the  hardware ,  operating system  (main  software ), and  peripheral  equipment needed and used for full operation. This term may also refer to a group of computers that are linked and function together, such as a  computer network  or  computer cluster . HISTORY The first counting device was used by the primitive people. They used sticks, stones and bones as counting tools. As human mind and technology improved with time more computing devices were developed.
